I danced with the Angry Birds

“This is the best game ever!” my friend exclaimed as she pulled out her iPhone and started to show me how to play Angry Birds.

“That’s the best game ever?” I thought to myself, “you’re just flinging birds at pigs!”

Fast forward two months and I finally purchased the iPod Touch, one more month and I finally downloaded Angry Birds — the free version.

Then I downloaded the paid version.

Flinging birds at pigs has never been this fun! And I’m not the only one who thinks so! Angry bird is popping up all over the place! Let’s see, there is …

Vanity Plates

This showed up in my RSS reader today, 20 Hilarious Vanity License Plates. Which made me think immediately of the pictures of vanity plates that I’ve seen around NYC. Some are funny, some are … strange; so here goes (and excuse the poor cellphone quality) –

10 Vanity Plates from around my city!

We have our hobby plates.

I'm going to guess that this person loves to knit.

Our positive plates.

Enjoy it? What?

A heart of gold? Did you just cut me off?

The religious Plates

I get the Yes Lord, but why the 1?

The name plates.

I wonder, what's that driver's name?

This category I like to call the snooty Prius owners plates.

Is this really necessary?

I hope the Prius stays around for a long time

The confusing plates

Are you a telemarketer? Or a phony?

The random “huh?” plates.

Company? Or misspelled three headed dog?

Then, there is my personal favourite!

I really hope you're not a librarian!

Now, for a bonus, this is one I saw just before I posted this, it’s almost like serendipity!

showing up in THAT car? You sir are a Playa indeed.

Hello Watson!

IBM succeeded in building a computer that was able to beat two top Jeopardy players, Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter.

I saw this comic from Abstruse Goose in my RSS reader and smiled.

I think that many humans, at one point or the other, wonder about the advances in technology and if one day technology will take over the world. I know I’ve often marveled at how far we’ve come, from the 90s where the internet was just beginning to pick up pace, to 2011 where a computer wins Jeopardy.

However, the thing that marvels me the most is that these contraptions exist, not on their own, but from the thoughts, tinkering and hard work of people just like you and me. Once my mind heads down that road, I take a second, say a prayer of praise, smile and get on with my day.

The human mind is an amazing thing with great potential to create.

Hello World, it’s a brand new day!

Believe it or not, this is yet another blog. Wow, how many of these things do I have!? How much can a person write? How much can a person tell? Why does one need these different outlets and categories.

In any case, I do not know the answer to those questions or else I would not be blogging here now would I? =)

It’s a brand new day, let’s go take it by storm.
